Reach Out And Touch Someone

What a great slogan that was for the AT&T commercials for several years. And it worked - each of us wants to be someone to somebody, usually family and friends. The ones closest to us mean the most to us.

And what about everyone else? We cannot possibly know who may be in urgent need of what only we can provide.

Still, we can know this: there is always a very necessary need for the gift of life, the gift of blood, which only we as one human being to another, can provide.

Please be all that you can to those closest to you. And please find it in your heart to consider everyone else. Your gift of life is a simple one and a perfect one - just between you and the stranger who really needs you to give today. Lee

Only 37% of "Normal"

My local blood center called last Friday to ask me to come in - they were at 37% of what they consider to be their normal minimum supply. I went over to donate - only to find that my iron count was too low. Back on Saturday, several servings of beef later, good iron count and donated.

Please remember that there are many of your neighbors who need your donation. Some literally every day. They are counting on you and others like you, kind and generous members of the community who are willing to give a little time and a priceless gift.

Happy 4th of July

What a blessing to live in such a truly unique culture. So much of the world is continually in turmoil! What passes for problems here is so inconsequential compared with the troubles of other continents.

And in our midst are so many who are generous with their time, money, and even their blood. Bless you all and God Bless America. Lee

Simmering Summer

With the arrival of July 4th and it's representation of summer and all that entails, there is another reminder of the enormous value of those silent heroes among us who regularly volunteer to donate blood for those who are in need.

The most recent personal reminder arrived in the mail late last week: the postcard informing me that I will be eligible to donate on July 5th. So, I'll go.

Do you have any stories regarding family members, friends or neighbors who are or have been beneficiaries of donated blood? I would like to hear from you. Please reply and I'll post your stories on this blog. Lee

Press Release

Press releases will go out this week to feature the World Blood Donor Day event on June 14, and the startup of The Perfect Gift Foundation.

Foundation assets are not yet sufficient to set up the website, but that will keep until a more consistent presence is established here on the blog. That's why your comments and suggestions are important.

The Perfect Gift Foundation is registered as the charter USA affiliate and contact agency of the Internatioal Federation of Blood Donor Orgainzations in Belgium.

More later on the Federation. Please leave comments and refer friends, family and associates to theperfectgiftfoundation.blogspot.com.

Thanks, and check back often for more progress reports, Lee

World Blood Donor Day (WBDD)

This year World Blood Donor Day will be observed everywhere on June 14.

There is a website with information. I found it with a Google search for "blood donor". That search turned up many more sites, though not as many as I had guessed. Which leads me to conclude that there is an even greater need for The Perfect Gift Foundation!

The Lifetime Donors I am looking for will most likely come from three groups: Seniors, those retiring from or otherwise leaving active military duty, and the 2o-somethings.

Please leave comments - I appreciate evidence of traffic here, thanks.
